Dubai’s Arabian Travel Market unveils “Travel 2040” theme focused on innovation
ATM 2026 to explore global travel trends, tech adoption, and sustainability strategies
DUBAI – The Arabian Travel Market (ATM) has announced the theme for its 2026 edition: “Travel 2040: Driving New Frontiers Through Innovation and Technology.”
Scheduled from 4–7 May 2026 at Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC), the event will examine the forces reshaping global tourism and the role of innovation in transforming the traveller experience.
The period leading to 2040 is expected to be one of the most transformative eras in tourism history. Research from the World Economic Forum predicts the sector will serve 30 billion tourist visits and contribute $16 trillion to global GDP by 2034. Advances in AI, immersive digital experiences, green aviation, and smart mobility are anticipated to redefine travel patterns, destinations, and consumer expectations.
ATM 2026
ATM 2026 will offer a platform for the global travel community to explore these opportunities, accelerate technological adoption, and strengthen the sector’s resilience, sustainability, and inclusivity.

Danielle Curtis, Exhibition Director ME, Arabian Travel Market, stated: “We are at a turning point where climate change, digital advancements, and evolving consumer expectations converge. ATM 2026 will demonstrate how innovation enhances travel experiences, operational efficiency, and sustainability, ensuring the Middle East remains at the forefront of this evolution.”
Why innovation matters
ATM’s focus on innovation is supported by strong market growth. The ATM Travel Trends Report 2025 forecasts that travel spend in the Middle East will exceed US$350 billion by 2030, with inbound travel growing at nearly twice the global average. The region is witnessing rising demand for luxury experiences, business events (MICE), and transformative journeys, establishing itself as a pivotal hub for the future of global tourism.
New show verticals
ATM 2026 will introduce dedicated show verticals to deepen engagement across key sectors. ATM Travel Tech debuts as a fully co-located event within the exhibition, showcasing how AI-powered trip planning, immersive experiences, smart payments, fintech, mobility, big data, and cybersecurity are shaping travel. Its Tech & Innovation Zone, covering 850 sqm, will feature robotics, AR/VR, next-generation payments, and green technology, anchored by the Future Stage, a 250-seat theatre hosting global tech leaders and futurists.

Returning in 2026, IBTM @ ATM will connect the business events sector with the Middle East’s expanding meetings and mega-events industry. The platform brings association planners, corporate buyers, and conference organisers together with leading destinations, venues, and service providers. Meanwhile, the ATM Ultra Luxury Lounge offers high-net-worth individuals access to bespoke travel experiences, private aviation, yachting, and world-class hospitality brands.
Shaping tomorrow
Curtis highlighted that ATM’s verticals showcase the evolving structure of global tourism. By addressing leisure travel alongside technology, business events, and luxury sectors, ATM 2026 provides a curated space for stakeholders to form partnerships and drive industry growth towards 2040.
With over 55,000 professionals from 166 countries attending the 2025 edition, ATM continues to play a key role in fostering collaboration, launching innovations, and charting the future of the travel and tourism sector.
